Kapawi Lodge was built in cooperation with the Achuar Indians in the traditional style with timber, and in 2011 the ownership passes entirely to them. It runs on solar power, has filtered water and modern technology, but is 12 days by foot from the nearest town. It's an example of eco-friendly tourism and an important source of income for the Achuar, who do not want to see oil companies raze their forest.Original source: Forests.org. Banking officials say that they can weather the storm that may come from the Presidents threats to default on the countries foreign debt.
