The people and culture of Ecuador

More than half of the current 13 million inhabitants of Ecuador are Mestizos, which means of Spanish and Indian descent. The main concentration of dark-skinned peoples are in the province of Esmeraldas in the north west of Ecuador with the rest spread around the other provinces along with the other cultures in the major cities.
